Prison staff in Nasarawa commits suicide over promotion 

An officer of the Nigerian Prison has allegedly committed suicide after he was denied promotion for the third time

Alfred Bassa ,28, allegedly drank a poisonous substance on October 2,2020, shortly after arriving at work at the Medium Security Custodial Centre,Keffi, Nasarawa State.

It was learnt that Bassa who was a graduate of microbiology, wrote promotional exams three times and passed all three exams but was denied promotion by the correctional authorities

The deceased reportedly took the decision to end his life as he was once again denied promotion after a new set of officers including those who failed the promotion examination were promoted last week.
