Bassirou Faye has just been sworn in as the President of Senegal following the expiration of the tenure of Macky Sall.
He was sworn in at Diamniado, Senegal a lake city located about 30 kilometres from Dakar, the country’s capital.
By his swearing – in, Faye 44, becomes the youngest president in Africa
The ceremony was attended by some Presidents in the continent including, Nigeria’s Bola Tinubu, the president of Ghana, and that of Gambia.
Faye, an independent candidate was elected president in the March 24 general election after polling more than fifty percent of the votes to beat his opponents.
The election originally scheduled to hold on February 25 was postponed to December by Sall but increased protests and pressure from the citizens and the constitutional council made him announce March 24 as New date for election.
