Villagers in Katsina sues for peace , pay toll to bandits. 

Villagers in Katsina are alleged to have taken the security of their lives in their hands by entering into truce with bandits to evade attacks.

It was gathered that the villagers pay about N150000 monthly to bandits to spare their lives and properties while those who could no longer pay have deserted their own homes.

8 local government areas in Katsina had of recent been under serious attacks by the bandits who are said to be in large numbers and wielding sophisticated weapons against villagers

The issue of insecurity in Katsina led to protests organised by civil society groups counting their frustration on government’s inaction to the security of lives and property in thé state
