
Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara has announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress APC.
The move came barely 24 hours after the governor had a closed – door meeting with President Bola Tinubu in the State House Abuja
Fubara, who announced his defection during a stakeholders meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Tuesday said that the decision was in the interest of the people of the state.
According to him, president Tinubu gave his approval to his defection.
Fubara ‘s defection closes the Peoples Democratic Party ‘s chapter in the South South as all governors and supporters have moved to the ruling party.
On Wednesday last week, Rivers State House of Assembly endorsed the president for a second term in office, 48 hours later, the Speaker, Martins Amaewhule and 16 others announced their defection to the APC.
Similarly,on Monday ( Yesterday) , Local Government Chairmen and councillors dumped the PDP and endorsed Tinubu before announcing their defection to the APC.
Political analysts in the state said the move by the governor “is best for him and the state as it forecloses further evil devices by those opposed to his government .
