
At least 55 persons have lost their lives in a fire that raced through seven high – rise buildings in a Hong Kong apartment complex
The fires which reportedly began on Wednesday afternoon local time are “basically under control” Hong Kong leader, John Lee said in a news conference on Thursday.
Lee confirmed that the massive blaze has killed 55 people adding that firefighters will continue to put out the blaze and search for missing persons currently ongoing.
Reports indicate that over 300 residents are missing.
The complex was under renovation and encased in” bamboo scaffolding and safety netting” when the incident happened.
Three men who worked for a construction company have been” arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.”Police accused the suspect of” gross negligence “
