The Nigeria Customs Service Board at its 64th meeting, has approved key leadership appointments and promotions to strengthen operational efficiency and reinforce the Service’s role in Nigeria’s economic transformation.
The Board under the Chairmanship of the Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Mr Wale Edun, on Tuesday confirmed five Deputy Comptroller-Generals and eight Assistant Comptroller-Generals in line with the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023 and Federal Character policy, alongside Special Promotions for ten officers recognised for exceptional professionalism and contribution to national revenue and security.
These reforms support an ongoing strategy to modernise Customs operations, enhance leadership succession and improve trade facilitation, transparency and border efficiency.
As Nigeria expands non-oil revenue streams and deepens private-sector–led growth, a more agile and technology-driven Customs Service is essential in reducing bottlenecks, improving clearance timelines and strengthening competitiveness under AfCFTA.
