A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has nullified the impeachment of Philip Shaibu as Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Shaibu was Impeached by the Edo State House of Assembly in April following a protracted disagreement between Shaibu and Governor Godwin Obaseki over succession.
But the trial Judge, Justice James Omotosho in a judgement on Wednesday, held that Shaibu’s impeachment and subsequent removal violated the provisions of the law.
Subsequently, the court ordered his reinstatement as Deputy Governor of the state.
The court further ordered the Inspector – General of Police to restore Shaibu’s security details as Deputy Governor.
