
Kwara State Government has announced plans to scrap payment of pension to former governors and deputies.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulraza who, made the announcement on Friday in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary,Rafiu Ajakaye, said he would send a bill to the State House of Assembly next week asking the legislators to immediately repeal the law enabling payment of pensions and other entitlements to former governors and deputies.
The funds from the pensions are to be committed to tackling poverty and youth unemployment. He said.
The development comes 3 days after a similar plan was announced by the Lagos State Government.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu had on Tuesday ,during his state budget presentation,told the House of Assembly members that he would send a bill to the House for the repeal of the Public Office Holder ( Payment of pension Law 2007 ).
