
The Presidential panel on Reform of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad set up by the Federal government in 2018 to reform SARS has recommended the sack of 37 officers of the defunct unit and 24 others for prosecution .
The Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission,Tony Ojukwu,who presented the panel’s report to the Chairman of the Police Service Commission(,PSC) Musuliu Smith called for urgent implementation of the recommendations.
He disclosed that the panel received 113 complaints on alleged human rights violations and 22 memoranda on suggestions on how to reform SARS and the entire police force and said at the end of the public hearing,the panel recommended 37 officers for dismissal and 24 others for prosecution.
