
Federal Government says it has removed duty on imported meters in a bid to ensure that all Electricity consumers are metered in the next six months.
The Minister of State for Power, Goddy Jedy Agba disclosed this shortly after a tour of the Calabar Power Plant owned by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Nigeria.NDPHC.
Agba stated that it was important to have all electricity consumers in the country metered to avoid the challenge posed by estimated billing method where people are charged for what they did not consume
He said that government was determined to ensure that the power produces at the station is evacuated and made available to consumers adding that meters are now to be brought to the country free of charge as there is no more duty on them while meters that in the port are to be cleared.
