
Yahaya Sharif-Aminu a resident of Kano is to die by hanging as a Shari’a Court in Kano found him guilty of blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed.
The Presiding Judge of the Upper Court,Khadi Aliyu Kani gave the gulty verdict on Monday.
Sharif-Aminu was accused of commiting blasphemy against the prophet in a song he circulated via WhatsApp in March.protest followed the action and the singer’s family home was burned by angry youths.a procession led to the Kano Hisbah Command’s headquarters in condemnation of the action.
The singer is believed to be a member of Tijaniya sect,a member of Faidha,a group known to have preference for a famous Senegalese Islamic Scholar, Ibrahim Nyass over Prophet Mohammed..
