At least two dead after Building Collapsed in Lagos

Two persons have been confirmed dead in a building collapse in the Ikota area of Lekki, Ajah, Lagos State.

The two-storey building reportedly under construction collapsed on Tuesday with five workers injured and some others still trapped in the rubble.

Although the cause of the accident was not stated,a spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye said,

“So far, the bodies of an adult male and a young boy were recovered and five adult males with serious injuries have been rescued and taken to the hospital.

“Information indicates that more people are likely to still be under the rubble,”

Farinloye said that search and rescue operations were ongoing. He said the immediate cause of the incident was unknown adding that further investigation would be conducted.
