The Delta State Police Command have arrested the resident pastor of Christ Holy Church, Mr Fidelis Nwansa over allegation of gun running under the pretence of providing security for churches and hotels with vigilante groups from other states.
The police also arrested the head of a vigilante group and recovered 6 pump action guns in a building under construction in the church premises.
The Delta State Police Commissioner, Muhammed Hafiz who spoke to newsmen disclosed that the arrest was made during a mop up exercise.
He said that it was illegal for anyone to harbour vigilante groups from others for purpose of providing security adding that a vigilante from another state cannot operate in Delta state because such operations could have criminal inclination.
