An explosion of a luxurious bus powered by CNG occurred on Sunday morning at Mando Motor Park in Kaduna.
The incident reportedly happened around 3:00 a.m. when the vehicle was parked in preparation for interstate trip later in the day.
According to a manager of Silver Transport Company, whose vehicle was affected, the explosion happened while the vehicle was stationary.
He said the bus was newly purchased, but expressed appreciation to God that no life was lost “Thank God no one was inside the vehicles. The bus along with others were parked to board passengers this morning.”
He said the” buses are using compressed natural gas (CNG), adding We are not matured enough to use them”
Confirming the incident, the Kaduna State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer,DSP Mansir Hassan said the incident happened very early on Sunday. . He stated that detectives were immediately deployed to the scene after a loud sound was reported.
He said ” Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident involved a Compressed Natural Gas CNG – powered luxury bus belonging to Silver Luxury Travel, which exploded due to overfilling of the gas tank.
He added that no casualties or loss of property was recorded and the affected vehicle has been evacuated whiile normal activities have since returned.
