
Chukwuebuka Eweni 27, has reportedly killed his father, Samuel Eweni, a computer science professor at Southern University at New Orleans, United States.
The suspect is also accused of stabbing his two sisters, injuring them during a domestic attack on Pebble Street, New Orleans.
A local news outlet, WWL Louisiana, reported that Chukwuebuka has been arrested and is in the custody of the New Orleans police.
In a statement,the New Orleans Police Department said that the suspect had been located in Jefferson Parish, adding, “He is currently in law enforcement custody while undergoing medical evaluation at an area facility”.
The Police explained that the incident occurred around 9:59 pm on 11 November 2025, “in the 8000 block of Pebble Street, which also left two additional victims injured”.
The statement further stated that officers responded to a call reporting “an aggravated battery by cutting, believed to be domestic in nature.
“Upon arrival, officers located inside a residence an unresponsive adult male subject who had sustained at least one fatal stab wound and two other adult victims with stab wounds,” Police said.
The statement added that the two surviving sisters were immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment.
“Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives have developed and positively identified Eweni as the perpetrator in this incident and have obtained an arrest warrant on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
“This suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous,” the statement said.
The department also noted that the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and the official cause of death upon completion of the autopsy and notification of the next of kin.
Although family members acknowledged that the suspect had a history of mental illness, they described the incident as sudden and shocking, while noting he had never been violent.
One of the injured sisters has reportedly been discharged from the hospital, while the other is still recuperating and is expected to recover.
