
The Christian Community in Krakrama in Asari Toru Local Government Area have been called to identify with the activities and programmes of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN).
The Chairman of the BSN Rivers Bayelsa Area, Mr Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, SM made the call while presenting the Special Membership Certificate to the Venerable Dr Nitego and Elizabeth Harrison at the Saint Gabriel’s
Anglican Church, Krakrama.
Ayo-Tamuno explained that the call became very necessary in view of the absence of BSN activities in the ancient community of Krakrama.
He said, “it is unacceptable to note that in spite of the visible presence of big churches in the area.there was no single presence of BSN activities “
He charged the leadership of the Anglican Church to play a leading role by organising other churches to come together and form Krakrama Auxillary of the Society.
Ayo-Tamuno congretulated the Venerable and his wife for being the first in the area to be Special Member and urged them to use their position to attract otters to the BSN.
Earlier in his speech Dr Nitego Harrison pledged to support the Society to achieve its aims and objectives.
He then thanked the Society for the honour accorded him and his wife.
In a related development, the Chairman of the Rivers Bayelsa Area of the State has appealed to Churches in Billie Community in Degema Local Government Area to work as a team to revive the Billie Auxillary.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno made the appeal during the presentation of Special Membership Certificate to the Reverend.
and Mrs Gloria Idoniboye at the Saint Anglican Church Billie.
He said, “from records Billie is one of the Auxiliaries existing in the area and it’s surprising to note that for over 20 years, the Auxillary has not been functioning”.
The Chairman said that the visit of the Area to the Billie Kingdom should be seen as a wake up call to revive the ancient Auxillary.
Ayo-Tamuno stated that the Society as a Non Governmental Organization exists to complement the evengelistic efforts of the Church by making the Word of God in the dialects of the people.
Speaking while receiving the Special Membership Certificate, the Reverend
Idoniboye expressed appreciation to the Society for finding him and his wife worthy to be admitted into the highest level of membership.
