
First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has raised N20.456, 188,924,93, so far just three days after her 65th birthday
Mrs Tinubu had days before her birthday which fell on Sunday, September 21 , made a personal appeal to Nigerians for contributions towards completing the National Library, describing the initiative as the “best birthday gift” she could receive.
In a broadcast, Mrs Tinubu,a former Senator,said her birthday would be observed quietly and dedicated to God. She urged well-wishers to send their gifts, greetings and celebrations into donations for the National Library Project which she called a project “close to my heart.”
“By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 years old on the 21st September, 2025,” . “Having a quiet birthday, I wish to appeal to those who would like to send a birthday card, cakes, flowers, greetings in the newspapers, or gifts, to please send the funds to the designated account for a special project… the completion of the National Library.”
She said that her love for education had informed the decision to dedicate her birthday to the project The initiative will be coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education under the “Oluremi at 65 Education Fund” and will be managed through a Zenith Bank account.
“This will be the best birthday present I could receive,” she said, calling on Nigerians to join her in supporting the project.
“God bless you for joining me in this building project.”
Construction of the National Library Headquarters initiated by the Obasanjo administration was launched in Abuja in 2006. The project which was designed to be the centre of learning and research remained uncompleted decades following issues of funding.
