
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has ordered an investigation into the alleged role of the state’s Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, in the controversial bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu, also known as Danwawu.
The development comes after reports surfaced linking the commissioner to documents used in facilitating Danwawu’s release.
According to a statement released by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor’s Spokesperson, a special committee has been set up to probe the incident., The panel will be led by Barrister Aminu Hussain, who serves as the governor’s Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters. The committee is expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the bail and make recommendations for immediate action.
Other members of the committee include Barristers Hamza Haladu and Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud Umar, retired Major General Sani Muhammad, Comrade Kabiru Said Dakata, and Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota, who will serve as secretary.
Governor Yusuf while announcing the probe, expressed concern over the allegations and reiterated his administration’s stand against drug abuse and related crimes in the state.
