Operatives of the Kano State Command have arrested an 18-year-old housewife, Saidat Jibril, for allegedly killing her husband, 30-year-old Salisu Idris, during a violent altercation on Monday, May 6, 2025.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the tragic incident occurred around 12:35am at the couple’s residence in Farawa Quarters, Kano.
According to the police, the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In the meantime,the suspect is in police custody
“The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a culpable homicide case,” the statement reads.
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, swiftly deployed a team of detectives to the scene.”
The victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Police say Saidat allegedly used a sharp knife to cut her husband’s throat during the scuffle.
She is currently being held at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, and will be charged to court for culpable homicide.
CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for violence and criminal acts, assuring the public of a thorough investigation to ensure justice.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to nearby stations or via the Command’s emergency lines.
