The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, AIG Victor Olaiya, has emphasized the need for collaboration between the Media and Security Agencies towards crime prevention and public safety.
AIG Victor Olaiya stated this when the executive members of Crime Reporters Global Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.
He stressed the importance of responsible Journalism in promoting transparency, trust and accountability within the policing system.
“There is a need for continued collaboration and steadfast support towards the advancement of public safety and the promotion of a more secure society”

Earlier, the National Chairman of Crime Reporters Global Nigeria, Mr Tita Onyebuchi, said the visit was aimed at strengthening relationship between the media and Police towards ensuring a crime free society.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the group to express its concerns in the security of FCT and Niger State, while also commending the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in crime fighting and community engagement.
The meeting afforded both parties to explore ways of enhancing collaboration and information sharing between Crime Reporters and security agencies.

Our Correspondent reports that the AIG Zone 7 recounted his smooth working relationship with the media which dated back from when he was a Divisional Police Officer to Commissioner of Police.
The occasion had in attendance top Security officers from the Zone.
