
Sultan of Sokoto and Nigeria’s Supreme Head of Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has confirmed the sighting of the moon signaling the end of Ramadan fasting.
The Sultan made the announcement in a live broadcast on Thursday.
He said his office received information on the sighting of the moon to end the fast.
In line with this, he declared Friday 21st of April 2023 as the first day of Shawwal 1444AH in Nigeria.
While wishing Nigerian Muslims well in celebration, Abubakar urged them to continue to pray for peace progress and development of the county.
The Federal Government had declared Friday,20 April and Monday 24 April as public holidays to celebrate the festival.
