The Central Bank of Nigeria CBN has extended the deadline for the exchange of Old Naira notes to newly designed currency by 10 days.
The new deadline is February 10,2023.
This is contained in a statement by the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele on Sunday.
Emefiele said the extension stemmed from the permission of the president to do so.
According to him, the apex bank has collected N1.9 trillion and left with N900 billion to achieve effective implementation of policy .
He said that though the policy has achieved 75% success, there was the need for anti – graft agencies to partner with the CBN by deploying their staff to banks to monitor compliance with the policy to rid breaches.
