At least three police personnel have been killed by gunmen who reportedly trailed their convoy and rain bullets on them at Rumuokoro in Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The deceased policemen were said to be excort to the yet to be identified VIP who also was not spared as he was abducted by the gunmen to an unknown destination.
A social media user who gave his name as Nuhu Idris claimed to have witnessed the incident on Thursday afternoon.
According to him, the gunmen attacked the VIP convoy, killed the policemen and carted away their rifles.
He advised those who engage in illegal duties requiring excorts in the Niger Delta region to stop adding that the country is tensed.
