World Football Governing body FIFA says it will ask countries to name a stadium after Pele, the departed World Soccer Legend.
FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, revealed this while speaking at the ongoing funeral of Pele at the Urbano Caldeira Stadium, Santos,Sao Paulo, Brazil
Infantino said ” We are going to ask that all countries in the world have at least one stadium with the name of” Pele so that children know Pele’s importance “
Pele died on 29 December 2022 after a prolonged battle with colon cancer.
He was aged 82.
The Brazilian football of World fame began his football career at age 15 debuting at his home clubside Santos Futebol Clube
He made appearance at the World cup at age 17 and won three world cup titles with over a thousand goals to his credit through in his 21 year football career.
Pele’s funeral activities commenced on Monday with public viewing of his coffin at the Santos stadium.
Brazilians are keeping wake at the stadium to pay their last respect to the man leaders of the world and football fans described as the greatest footballer of all time.
