Former Chancellor of the Exchequer and Secretary to the British Treasury,Rishi Sunak is now officially United Kingdom’s Prime Minister after meeting with King Charles III on Tuesday morning to form a government.
Sunak had arrived the Palace around 10:00 shortly after Liz Truss tendered her resignation letter to the King .
Sunak ,a British citizen of Indian descent is the first person of colour to be elected Prime Minister of the UK.
He is UK’s third leader under eight weeks after winning a Tory party leadership contest following Truss’s resignation.
After his emergence on Monday, Sunak warned the country faced a “profound economic challenge”
While vowing to unite UK with action, saying he’s not daunted by challenges,Sunak urged the Tory party to unite or die
He ruled out an early general election, despite calls from Labour, the Scottish National Party, the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party.
