
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr Usman Alkali Baba as Acting Inspector General of Police with immediate effect.
Baba who is a Deputy Inspector General of Police ( DIG) was before his appointment in charge of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department ( FCIID).
According to the President, the new IGP was chosen on grounds of merit and competence.
Baba was born on March I 1963 and hailed from Geidam in Yobe state.
He replaced, Mohammed Adamu whose retirement in February 2021 was extended by the Presidency for 3 months.
