
Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning,Mrs Zainab Ahmed,has assured Nigerians that the country will exit recession by first quarter of 2021.
The assurance comes three days after Nigeria entered its second recession in five years as the Gross Domestic Product GDP, fell for the second consecutive quater in the year.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday, at the ongoing 26th Nigerian Economic Summit organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Ahmed said the recession followed the pattern across the world where many countries had entered economic recession due to the Covid-19 pandemic..
According to her, Nigeria is not alone in this,but that “Nigeria has outperformed all of those economies in terms of the record of a negative growth.”
