The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has declared Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress APC,as winner of the October 10 governoship election in Ondo State having polled the highest votes in the election.
Akeredolu won in 15 out of the 18 Local Government Areas of the state leaving his main challenger Eyitayo Jegede with 3 local government areas.
Akeredolu polled a total of 292,830 to beat Jegede of the Peoples Union Party who received 195,791
Agboola Ajayi of the ZLP polled 69,127 to emerge third.
In his victory speech, Akeredolu described his victory as unequivocal and soul lifting and reward for hardwork.
According to him, the victory is for rededication to service for the interest of the people adding that he would not relent in the provision of Infrastructures and programmes aimed at addressing the welfare of the people which he noted was the main thrust of government.
The governor-elect also described the support he received from the APC and his National and state leaders as examplary and said that his government would not hesitate to address genuine dissenting voices to further progress of the state.
