The Police on Monday paraded a traditional ruler in Awara,Ohaji/ Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State for alleged involvement in kidnapping.
The suspect was said to have confessed that he had been hiring his Lexus Jeep to some suspected Kidnappers for their operations
He said that the kidnappers paid him N3MILLION for the latest operation that failed.He was paraded along with a pastor of Winners chapel in Njaba who defiled an 11 year old daughter of a fellow pastor.
The Commissioner of Police in Imo, Isaac Akimmoyede, said a gang had kidnapped one Louis Obodo,at Mgbala Agwa and Insp Oscar Mbaeri,in Agwa in Oguta Local Government recently.
He said the gang kidnapped one Chigozim Nnaji, Desmond Okonkwo and Anyanwu Amarachi on July 19,after which the police chased them.
The Police Commissioner said that the gang abandoned their Lexus Jeep during an exchange of gunfire with operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS and Anti Kidnapping units of the command.
He said that the gang on May 15, ambushed and attacked a tram of NDLEA Officers, during which they killed one Officer and left two others seriously injured and absconded with their rifles
Akimmoyede said that the sum of four million naira and two hundred thousand naira,one Lexus 330SUV,four AK-47 rifles,one LAR rifle,one SMG rifle,120 rounds of 7.62MM life ammunition was recovered from the gang and said that the suspects would be charged to court after investigation
