Imo pensioners have given the Imo State Governor,Hope Uzodinma 7 day ultimatum to pay their 4 month pension arrears.
The protesters have threatened to occupy government house should he fail to pay at the expiration of the ultimatum.
The Chairman of the Union’s Pensions Intervention Committee, Ohaneje Ike warned that failure for the government to pay their pension arrears will force them to occupy the government house.
Pensioners had protested had protested last week where government officials had assured them their arrears would be paid in few days.
Cosmos Iwu, Secretary to the State Government SSG while addressing protesting pensioners said that the government will pay them last Friday.
However the statement by the SSG was contradicted by the Commissioner for Information who later on radio said that the government was not owing any pension arrears.
The conflicting statements by the government officials are taken as a ploy by government to refuse payment of the pension arrears.
