The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
has confirmed that unidentified gunmen attacked its Bakin Ruwa Checkpoint, under the Tuga Border Patrol Formation in #Kebbi State, on Thursday night.
According to a statement issued by the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, the assault occurred around 10:00 p.m., resulting in the deaths of three immigration personnel. Operational assets and facilities at the checkpoint were also destroyed during the incident.
The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, has directed an immediate tactical response.
Measures include the deployment of reinforcements, intensified joint operations with sister security agencies, enhanced intelligence gathering along the Tuga axis, and increased patrols in the area.
The NIS called on members of the public to remain calm and continue providing useful information to security agencies as efforts to secure the border corridor are being stepped up.
