Bayelsa State Governor,Duoye Diri has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP..
Also, twenty three members of the House of Assembly including the Speaker,Rt . Hon. Abraham Ingobere have dumped the PDP.
The resignation was said to have been announced by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Daniel Alabra on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
Diri ‘s resignation from the PDP comes just 24 hours after the official defection of one of his colleagues, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State to the All Progressives Congress APC.
The development lays to rest weeks of speculation and doubts of Diri’s defection to the APC.
More governors from the main opposition party are reportedly moving in the same direction as Mbah and Diri
Reports indicate that Diris formal defection where he would be received by the National leadership of the APC could take place between Saturday and Monday in Yenegoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
