The Presidential Election Petition Court PEPC has struck out the suit filed by the Allied Proples Movement,APM challenging the qualification of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President, Kashim Shettima.
Delivering the judgement on Wednesday, the Chairman of the panel, Justice Haruna Tsammani held that the issue was a preelection matter which the election tribunal lacked the powers to entertain.
The APM had argued that Tinubu and Shettima were not qualified to contest the February 25 presidential election on grounds of double nomination for the position of Vice President.
The party argued that the withdrawal of the placeholder,Kabiru Masari’s name with Shettima in 21 days instead of 14 days violated Section 33 of the Electoral Act of the Electoral Act,2022 .
