The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested three suspects over the killing of two police officers attached to the Aluu Police Division. The suspects were arrested during a stop-and-search operation along the Aluu axis of Obiri-Ikwerre on June 29.
In a statement issued by Spokesperson,ASP Blessing Agabe,the Command said it also recovered three AK-47 rifles and one additional rifle during the operation. In a statement,
Agabe said one of the officers who was attacked survived after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg, which was later amputated.
The statement further revealed that operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, following credible intelligence, arrested three suspected members of the gang. identified as 34-year-old Maduabuchi Emeka, also known as “Doctor”; 42-year-old Chinedu Owhor of Aluu Community; and 28-year-old Kamachi Joe.
The command said the suspects have also been linked to various criminal cases including the murder cases currently under investigation, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest a fourth suspected member of the gang who is still on the run.
