The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, AIG Victor Olaiya, has lectured his Personnel under the theme, “Effective Policing Thrives Where Discipline is Upheld.”
The lecture underscored the importance of discipline as the foundation of professionalism, accountability and effective service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.
Addressing officers, men, and women of Zone 7 Headquarters, AIG Victor Olaiya emphasized that discipline remains the bedrock of an effective and professional policing.
He urged all personnel to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties, uphold the core values of the Force and consistently demonstrate exemplary conduct in both their official and personal lives.
The AIG reminded officers that every Police man is, by extension, a public relations officer of whose behaviour, appearance, communication and professionalism contribute significantly to public perception and public confidence in policing.
He therefore called on all personnel to uphold the highest standards of integrity, courtesy, discipline and ethical conduct at all times.
Speaking extensively on the protection of human rights and quality public service, the AIG reiterated the policing philosophy of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, that “Citizens are the Boss.”
He reminded personnel that policing is fundamentally a service-oriented profession and that every engagement with members of the public must be guided by professionalism, respect, empathy, fairness, accountability and strict adherence to the rule of law.
AIG Victor Olaiya concluded the lecture by sharing key strategic insights and directives from the recently concluded Strategic Management Meeting convened by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which brought together Commissioners of Police and other senior officers from across the country.
He encouraged all personnel to internalize the lessons and resolutions from the meeting and align their conduct, leadership and operational responsibilities with the strategic vision and policing priorities of the Inspector-General of Police.
The Zonal spokesperson, ASP Halima Mohammed, said the General Lecture Parade forms part of the Zone’s continuous efforts to strengthen professionalism, reinforce discipline, and promote a people-centred policing culture that inspires public trust and confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
