A Katsina State High Court has sentenced a woman, Hauwa’u Mukhtar, to death by hanging for aiding terrorism through arms supply.
She was arrested for moving ammunition linked to bandit activity in Katsina State. Security operatives later brought her before the court on terrorism-related charges.
A counter-insurgency publication reported that officers of the Department of State Services picked her up at Jibia motor park. She was said to be transporting 438 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The shipment was allegedly meant for a bandit leader identified as Ado, who operates in Dunburum forest in Zamfara State.
The Department of State Services filed a two-count charge against her at the state high court. The case was heard by Justice A. B. Bawale.
The court heard witness accounts and reviewed evidence presented by the prosecution. The judge ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Mukhtar was sentenced to death by hanging under the Katsina State Penal Code Law, 2021.
