Ahead of the May 21 Governorship primary, the All Progressives Congress APC has successfully screened Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Fubara was cleared by the APC screening committee at the Plateau Governors Lodge, Abuja, on Saturday.
The governor was among the 17 serving governors whose credentials were verified and assessed by the committee.
The APC also screened Kingsley Chinda, the minority leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the House of Representatives and loyalist of Wike, was earlier screened and cleared to contest against Fubara in the forthcoming election.
Chinda ‘s appearance at the APC screening committee came as a shock to followers of political events in Rivers State as he was said to have been annointeed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike to fly the flag of the PDP for the office of governor.
Other aspirants cleared include Arch Tonye Cole, and another Wike Ally, George Kelly.
Wike has vowed countless times that he would not be supporting Fubara ‘s reelection. However,with governor Fubara and allies of Wike cleared for the primary, political analysts believe that a heavy political storm awaits Rivers State.
