A pressure group mainly made up of young people has requested former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election promising that its membership cuts across geopolitical zones with over 10 million voters.
In their separate address, three members of the group, who stormed the residence of the former president in Maitama, Abuja on Thursday morning ,urgently called on Jonathan to pick up form and contest on the platform of his choice saying they are convinced that he alone has the capacity to salvage the country at a time like this.
In his response,Jonathan lauded the group for showing patriotism and towing the line of peace.He said peaceful and credible elections are essential in the democratic process and advised them to show keen interest in elections in the country..
The former president lamented that the youth population shy away from election stating ” possibly 60% of young people don’t have voters cards”. He however said he has heard them and will consult widely .
He added that Presidential election is “not a computer game'” suggesting that it involves a lot.
