Four Children Dead after Eating Suspected Poisonous “Amala “in Kogi State

No fewer than four children have died and nine others hospitalised after eating suspected cassava flour popularly called Amala in Ihima Local government Area of Kogi state.

Current matters learnt that the unfortunate incident occured after they ate amala and okra soup by two families, The deceased children were said to be between the age 4 and 12

It was also gathered that a dog that ate the food also died while five people are currently receiving treatment at the Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital, Okene.

The Chairman, Okehi Local Government Area, Monday Amoka, who was at the scene of the incident ordered the immediate investigations into the matter, to avert escalation of cases in the area.

He called on the people of the community to remain calm, as efforts are being intensified to ensure the recovery of the victims in the hospital.
