Governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu told them to support the candidates of the former governor of Rivers state and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike in the just concluded primary elections in Rivers state.
The governor made this known while reacting to claims that he supported ADC candidates in the primary election
Governor Fubara ‘s statement contained in a report that was published on the official X handle of ARISE NEWS on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 reads as follows
“In the build up to the primaries, the President intervened and asked everyone to support the candidates of the former governor and Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike for peace to reign”.
The clarification comes four days after two Wike’s loyalists, Napoleon Ukalikpe and Mrs Bulabari Henrietta Loolo won the APC tickets for the Ahoada East ll Constituency and Khana Constituency 2.
Prior to the governor’s explanation, some loyalties of the Minister had taken to social media traditional media to insist that Wike who has yet to be a member of the All Progressives Congress APC is the leader of the party.
But the brickbats had yet settled in when party chieftains of the APC tackled the Intruders on how low they could stoop to magnifying their emperor in order to get what they wanted.
The same persons reportedly began choking the social media space with stories of how the governor removed the portrait of Mr President which has since been denied by the state government.
A party stalwart told current matters ” I believe this why there was no challenge on the part of the governor’s loyalists when Wike’s aide and supporters went agog and viral over the outcome of the election.
“Indeed, this is the reason for the absolute calm in the state.” He added
