The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists seen in viral video initiating a toddler into their group.
The initiation reportedly happened in Sapele area of the state.
In the video circulating in the social media platforms, the toddler was blindfolded by the suspects during the initiation while the child was shouting .
In a statement the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest of four suspects
He said, “These suspects have been arrested for the evil they did to this innocent child.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has ordered that they should be transferred to the headquarters immediately.” Edafe said
Cultism is a menace that has seeped through communities in the country, negatively impacting the population of youth. It is often caused by factors like low esteem,peer pressure and fuelled by a desire for social acceptance and power, particularly in schools and colleges.
The initiation of a toddler in Delta state reveals a new dimension to the dreaded act.
