The Nigeria Police Force NPF says it recorded major breakthroughs in recent anti-crime operations, rescuing five kidnapped victims in Kebbi State and eliminating five suspected kidnappers in Abia State.
A statement by the Force Saturday indicated that the operations also resulted in the recovery of arms, ammunition, and other dangerous weapons reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The statement said police operatives, working with other security agencies and vigilantes, in Kebbi State rescued three kidnapped victims after a gun battle with armed kidnappers in Shanga Hills. In a separate operation in Danko/Wasagu LGA, two victims abducted in Zamfara were freed unhurt after a successful confrontation with bandits.
In Abia State, operatives stormed a kidnappers’ den in Ukwa West LGA and engaged the gang in a fierce exchange of gunfire. The superior firepower of the police proved decisive as five gang members were eliminated and a large cache of arms and ammunition recovered. The statement added that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the officers for their bravery and assured Nigerians of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks nationwide.
