
Super Falcons Player, and AFC Toronto forward, Esther Okoronkwo,was crowned the Super Falcons’ Fans’ Player of the Tournament at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat, Morocco last Saturday.
The announcement which was made via the Super Falcons’ official X handle on Tuesday described her as “composed “and “crowned by the people”
The post read: “Presenting your #WAFCON2024 Fans’ Player of the Tournament… Esther Okoronkwo, OON. Clutch. Composed. Crowned by the people,” the post read.
Okoronkwo was the player who raised the hope of the Nigerian team in the final after scoring a penalty from a 2- nil lead in the first half of the game.
She equally assisted Folashade Ijamiluisi and Jennifer Echegini to score the second and decisive goal respectively
In the quarter-final clash against Zambia, Okoronkwo scored once and registered two assists in a commanding 5–0 victory, as the Falcons cruised into the semi-finals.
Okoronkwo was among six Super Falcons players shortlisted for the Fan- voted award following their remarkable performance leading to 3-2 victory at the recent WAFCON tournament
Others were Jennifer Echegini, Ashleigh Plumptre, Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiwendu Ihezuo and Folashade Ijamiluisi
