The Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced 15th July, 2025 as the burial date of former President Muhammadu Buhari who died on Sunday in a London hospital.
This is contained in a statement by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed,
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
According to the statement,while announcing the burial arrangements, Governor Radda told journalists that after consultations with the late President’s family and close associates in London, it had been agreed that the remains of the former leader would arrive in Katsina, Nigeria on Tuesday, 15th July, 2025 by 12 noon, and that the burial would take place in Daura, the hometown of the late President, by 2:00 p.m. same day.
It added that “Governor Radda expressed deep condolences on behalf of himself, the Government, and the people of Katsina State, to the family of the late President and to all Nigerians mourning the loss of a national icon.
“We pray Almighty Allah gives his soul eternal rest and reward him with Aljannatul Firdaus,” the Governor said.
The Governor also condoled with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the passing of his predecessor, praying that Allah grant Nigerians the strength to bear this great loss.
The statement further noted that the Government of Katsina State is coordinating with federal authorities and the family to ensure a befitting and dignified farewell for the late elder statesman.
