President Bola Tinubu has held a closed – door meeting with the Governor of Rivers State,Sir Siminilayi Fubara.
Fubara was suspended by the President on March 18,2025, over what the president cited as protection of national assets amid a protracted political crisis between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT Abuja and the Governor.
Tinubu imposed a State of Emergency in Rivers State and suspended all elected officials including Fubara, his Deputy and members of the State House of Assembly for six months.
In their place, the president appointed a retired Naval Chief,Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas to superintend over the affairs of the state.
Although, the reason for the meeting has yet been made known to the press, speculations are rife that the president, would in the spirit and interest of preserving democracy in the country, reinstate the governor and others to office before democracy day on June 12.2025.
