The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP has appointed a Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the party in the South South Zone
The development comes weeks after a group loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike purportedly held a Congress in Calabar,Cross River State.
The NWC had dismissed the reported congress in its wake saying it breached the party’s constitution assuring party faithful it would announce further direction in due course.
Consequently,in a statement on Friday, March 7, 2025, the PDP’s National Organising Secretary,Debo Ologunagba said the NWC has approved the set up of a Caretaker Committee to ensure the running of the party in the zone without a hitch.
According to him, the caretaker committee “will manage” the affairs of the party for a period of 3 months.or until a new executive is elected.
Members of the Committee includes Bro Emma Ogidi as Chairman and Chief Damiete Herbert – Miller as Secretary.
Others are Hon. Nicholas Ayuwa,Barr. Godwin Akpan Udonta ,Mrs Bekewei Ashanti ,Idehen Ebomonyi and Dame Vivian Ahanmisi .
