In a dramatic escalation of unrest in Rivers State, parts of the Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) Secretariat have been set ablaze by unidentified youths. The incident occurred as the council chairman and his entourage were inspecting the council, adding an air of tension to the situation.
Meanwhile, in neighboring Emuoha LGA, unidentified youths launched a shocking attack on the council premises. Last night, they allegedly planted dynamites, which were detonated this morning just as the council chairman arrived at work.
The council chairman stated that concerned farmers had alerted authorities after witnessing the youths entering the premises through the back fence. He expressed frustration with the local police, who he said failed to respond despite the warning received yesterday.
