The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has kicked against the new N50,000 fee imposed by the National Examination Council (NECO) for certificate reprint and called for immediate reversal of the fee.
NANS In a statement on Thursday by clerk of its Senate, Abdulyekinn Odunayo, described the decision as not only shockingly bad but a commercialisation of education.
The association expressed dismay with the position of NECO saying it was unfair to place a huge burden on the students, particularly during a period of economic hardship.
While expressing concerns about the lack of transparency in NECO’s fee structure and policies, NANS called for an immediate reversal and reduction of the fee to a more affordable amount.
The student body also advocates for an extension of the reprint request deadline to 5 years .
