
The Degema Judicial Division presided over by Justice David Gbasam on Monday,10th June struck out a suit challenging the membership of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP of twenty seven members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The suit had Hyacinth Wosa Amadi, Comrade Godspower Obuah,Tonye Datonye and,Barikpe Gibson Eenyie as claimants while the respondents are Rt,Hon. Martins Amaewule representing himself and 26 other members of the House of Assembly, Rivers State House of Assembly, Attorney – General of Rivers State and the Peoples Democratic Party.
However, shortly after the court gave the order, there were conflicting reports on the order of court with most of reports declaring that the 27 lawmakers who had previously had their seats vacated by a Port Harcourt High Court over defection to the All Progressives Congress APC from the PDP,have been reinstated as members of the PDP by the PDP.
But the State Attorney – General and Commissioner of Justice Dagogo Israel Iboroma SAN clarified afterwards that the report, declaring the lawmakers as members of the PDP was false
He said at no time did the court make such a declaration
