Despite N50m Bail a Federal High Court in Abuja has said that the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari will not go home just yet as he still has a case to answer

On Thursday, Justice James Omotosho ruling in a case over failure to declare assets granted Kyari bail in the sum of N50million .

The judge however said that his release warrant will only be signed when the pending criminal cases against him are concluded .

Justice Omotosho while granting the bail application said that the offence was bailable ,and given that Kyari chose to stay in prison during the July 5,2022 jail break “shows that the applicant is unwilling to run away from his trial and has shown willingness to attend court when required.

The judge said he would not deny Kyari bail as “he has been in detention for a long time and also based on his constitutional right to bail according to section 36(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,1999( as amended “

He therefore granted him bail in the sum of N50MILLION with two sureties in like sum.

The judge ordered that the sureties must have property worth N25million within the court’s jurisdiction.

He also ordered Kyari and the sureties to deposit their international passport, statement of accounts, title deeds of the sureties property and recent passport photographs with the registrar of the court.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA had filed a 24- count charge against the suspended cop alongside his siblings, Mohammed Baba and Ali over his failure to declare properties allegedly linked to him in the asset form.

The judge had earlier granted bail to the Kyari brothers who were accused of receiving funds from an international scam syndicate linked to Ramoni Abbas a.ka. Hushpuppi.
